I’ve never really come out and said, “I had a breakdown.”
Largely because so very many things have happened and there’s just too much to talk about.
But: I had a breakdown, years ago when I was working for the Government of Canada. And my doctor put me on stress leave. And it turned out to be necessary leave.
And what warms my heart is that me doing what I needed to do for me, inspired other colleagues to do what they needed to do for them.
Anyway, “burnout” has just been recognized by the World Health Organization as a valid medical condition.
And that inspired this post: Burnout, Stress Leave, and Taking the Necessary Time to Heal.
